Do we really want to limit the authors? How much would be enough such that it feels like the old portal again? Do you think they would be happy to be limited to creating one Sudoku per month?
One of the main purposes of our club is to popularize puzzles. So, instead of limiting newcomers, we should welcome them and find a way to let them express themselves here. Sure, we should not forget about the regulars. But I am sure we can accommodate both of them.
Sudoku is much more popular than any other puzzle type. So maybe we should do something similar to the world championships: split them up, but keep them next to each other, such that it's still easy to do both.
My idea is to split the main page of the Rätselportal into three lanes or columns or tabs or sub-menus or something like this. The first one ('both') looks exactly like the Rätselportal right now. The second one ('only puzzles') looks very similar, except it only contains the non-Sudokus of the Rätselportal. The third one ('only Sudokus') also looks very similar, except it only contains the Sudokus of the Rätselportal.
It's just one difference, but it affects everything: puzzle lists, search function, comments lists, statistics, even categories when inserting puzzles.
Additionally, on each puzzle detail page, there is a new button: On non-Sudoku detail pages it's called 'Flag as Sudoku'. On Sudoku detail pages it's called 'Flag as non-Sudoku'. If a non-Sudoku is flagged a few times as Sudoku, then it becomes a Sudoku and switches to the Sudoku lane. If a Sudoku is flagged a few times as non-Sudoku, then it becomes a non-Sudoku and switches to the non-Sudoku lane.
