Ein schneller Versuch in der Mittagspause:
Football fever
The exciting village tournament between Aford, Beesby, Ceeton, Deeham, Eville and Geethorpe is taking place. I had taken note of the match results and standings on a piece of paper, but when I arrived in the editorial office to make the football world aware of the dramatic developments almost all results were unreadable and the table was incomplete.
Can you help to reconstruct the standings table and the match results?
Known results:
B:A 3:3
D:E 0:1
C
3:2
I do remember that all scores were different, all villages had a different number of points, and no team had scored more than three goals in one match.
This is what's left of the standings table:
N (Number of matches played) W (Matches won) L (Matches lost) D (Draws) S (Goals scored) C (Goals conceded) P (Points)
In these very traditional villages the winner of a match gets two points, the loser zero points, and for a draw both teams get one point each.
. . N W L D S C P
. A 2 0 . . 3 . .
. B 4 . . 2 9 . 4
. C 5 . 0 . . 4 8
. D 3 . 3 . . 7 .
. E 2 . . . . 1 .
. G 2 0 . 1 . . .
Total . . . . . 26 . .
