Hi everyone,

Over the past few months, we – the sudokusphere team – have been working together on a new Sudoku website. We were inspired by platforms like SudokuPad, but felt there was still a lot of room for improvement — especially when it comes to design and missing features like a searchable puzzle list. So we decided to build our own site from the ground up.

The site is now nearly finished, and we’d really love to hear your feedback. Here are the main features we’ve implemented so far:

Sudoku builder with over 25 rule types: You can create puzzles with a wide range of variants — including Anti-Chess, Arrow, Chevron, Clone, Diagonal, Killer, and many more. Our goal is to make the builder as flexible as possible so that both classic and highly customized logic puzzles are possible.

Puzzle analysis tools: You can check how many solutions a puzzle has and, if there are multiple, see which digits are possible in each cell. We’re currently working on a tool that explains solving techniques step by step — great for learning or teaching.

Publish your own puzzles: Once you create an account, you can name and publish your own Sudokus and share them with the community.

Seamless solving experience: Whether you’re building or playing, you can pause and resume at any time.
Points and leaderboards: You earn points for every puzzle you solve — based on difficulty (measured by average solve time) and other factors. Of course, there are still some bugs and unfinished features (yes, a few buttons don’t do anything yet), but we’re constantly working on improvements.

Here are a few issues we’re already aware of:

I made a userscript that improves the website in various ways. Feature overview:

The solution code is automatically generated and submitted when you solve a puzzle. (With some caveats: The instructions must be relatively simple, like "row X" or "first column". Some URL shorteners break this feature. And finally, it currently only works with SudokuPad.)

If you have the puzzle portal open in a background tab when you solve a puzzle, the puzzle icon immediately changes from "unsolved" to "solved".

URLs in comments (of a puzzle) are turned into clickable hyperlinks.

Pressing Ctrl+C while an entire row/column is selected will copy the digits to your clipboard. (SudokuPad only.)
To use this script, make sure you have a browser extension like TamperMonkey and then install the script by clicking this link.

guy, mods, i know you gave up on sudoku tag, but you might want to add a few things on the setters page when they post a puzzle. mainly to avoid getting into trouble from legal problem
yes, I'm talking about posting puzzles to get money or fund. i just happened to click on a Sudoku page today and notice it's advertising for a Sudoku-con that's not WSPC and not happened yet. i study finance so hear me out. if you gather money for a thing that's not happened yet, it's banking from people's trust. and the trust is not only from the fundraiser but also the platfrom it's on. which means, if this con doesn't happen or something goes wrong, you will also be hold accountable. this means, you guys might be going to deal with legal issue from other country like illegal fundraising.
what I'm asking you guys to do is not check every puzzle for this stuff(i don't think you have enough manpower for this), I'm asking to be at least put some warning in the puzzle posting page to free you from potential risk. i do not have a good feeling about this when i see a 100% rating puzzle have fundraising content. i don't know how often does this happened. but every setter and solver should know that this is not a platfrom for advertisement. do not share your puzzle hoping to get a profit.
also, I'm doing this for myself. you might notice this site is accessible to China. one of the reason is that there's no money business involved. i don't want to be not accessible to this site. just let setter know don't do potentially illegal stuff, either in copyright or finance

Hi all,

I am still alive!
In the last (almost) two years, I have been busy with a lot of other things in life, beside puzzling. I have written piles of puzzles for our National Sudoku Championships and for the website of WCPN, but since you all know, SVS was on hold. For longer than I intended.

Two weeks ago I participated in WSPC in Beijing in the Dutch B-team and for that occasion I prepared a few practise sudokus for the team for some new (to me) variants.

In the months before Beijing I was busy with the Dutch championships 2025 and now I am in a writing flow. It's time to pick up SVS again...

The portal of LMD has been a great source of inspiration, so that was the place I started searching for new variants, but I encountered an immediate problem: a vast amount of puzzles is published every day, but the majority of those puzzles are hybrids. For SVS I am looking for 'Single rule'-sudokus. That seems to be a search for a needle in a haystack.

So here is a shout-out for help: Can you provide me the links to new Single-rule sudokus that are published here in the portal in the past two years? Otherwise searching for these myself will consume costly time that I prefer to spend in writing new puzzles.

Thanks in advance!
Best regards, Richard

I made the following observation (only a gut feeling, nothing is provable):
If there are two comparable puzzles with comparable difficulty but the first one has a publicly available solution, the second doesn't, the first one will get higher solver numbers. By publicly available I mean youtube videos or digital versions of the puzzle which allow for solution checking even after the first digit is entered.
Would it be a good idea to lable those puzzles to make solver numbers better comparable?

Hallo,

Hello,

I am a rather new 'rookie' puzzle setter. I have created 5-6 puzzles which are posted on Logic Masters. Of these puzzles, the first two received enough ratings to display the difficulty and popularity. All other puzzles I have created were barely solved and received not enough ratings (<10). The comments show that those who did try and solve puzzles, did enjoy them a lot (mostly the last two puzzles). I am looking for some help into what is causing people not to try the puzzles.

I am unsure if it is the ruleset, unclear rules, the look and feel of the puzzle, or the difficulty. Any help towards what may be causing it is much appreciated. Because they did not receive enough ratings, I cannot see how difficult people think the puzzle was or how much the popularity rating is.

Hello. everyone. i want to draw some attention to the rules writing issue.
It's a problem i noticed a long time ago. Many setters use the line 'Standard/Normal Sudoku rules apply' without a follow up of a detailed rules. I even remembered a puzzle did not list the complete ruleset he use. There are also some minor problem with the rules writing, like using 'negative restraint' in rules writing instead of 'All possible xxx are given', or the rules don't have paragraphs which makes it unnecessarily tiring to find a certain rule.
In the past, i thought it's a time issue that can be solved with time. But today, i found i have trouble understanding rules. i had to guess the rules by the example. the sorce of my misunderstanding is that the setter repeat a noun in many lines, causing me to think those lines of rules are connected. It's very clear many setters still don't know how to write their rules more effectively.
In the 'How to publish puzzles' section, it is clear to avoid only using simplied version phase and check puzzle wiki. but i can't access the puzzle wiki English version page. And i didn't find how to write a new rule from 0 in wiki
To conclude, i think a rules writing guide book is necessary. It can help setters to write the rules like a pro, and may be some crtl C+V when too tired to write the detailed rule. As for what i expected to see in a guide book, it should contain example rules of every label/tag, how to paragraph a complex rule set, the usage of symbols(like ? in outside clues only have one direction while arrows can have three) and colors(what color should be used to be more accessible for colorblind, may be some sample color), and maybe some example of rules with many tags to illustrate the layers in writing the rules.
by the way, could there be a tag or label for all those fog of war puzzles? i want to exclude those from my search list. it's very frustrating clicking a puzzle only to find i'm physically impossible to solve those.
