I can add my personal opinion which is in agreement with RobertBe and Matt75 (and possibly others)
I have in the last 6 months lost motivation because there are simply too many puzzle and too many of them are too difficult. For the first 9 months I could keep up with virtually every new puzzle. If one or two out of 10-15 in a month were difficult, no problems. But when there are 74 new puzzles in a month (Sept09), many of them very demanding, there is simply not enough time to keep in touch. At the beginning I was constantly on the 90% mark, recently I am floating around the 50% and trying to solve just the 1-2 stars to keep going..... which is not very exciting......If I want to catch up I would probably need to solve 60-70 puzzles per month, but the target is moving..... In summary, my sindrome is simply saturation (and a bit of frustration too).
There are too many Metas, too many puzzles in which there is no description of the task or of the solution code, some are not language neutral (I managed to solve a few of those and I am proud of it but my German has strong limitations...). I support the idea of RobertBe of a "I do not like this puzzle" button. At the moment the valuation of the puzzle can be given only AFTER having solved it....
Having said this, I find that the Raetsel portal is invaluable as testing areas for new puzzles or new variants. If I remember well the first Tapa distiller and Tapa Logic was published here. This is an excellent trainingcamp also in view of the WPC.
