Question regarding ruleset - KNT chaos construction

its about this puzzle:

• A cell with a red X in the bottom right corner indicates the size of the orthogonally connected section of the region that cell belongs to.
  
  
• All possible size clues (red Xs) are given
  

Do the Xs count ALL orthogally connected cells of the whole region or just the connected cells of this ONE
particular section of the region? 
example : a section has 2 orthos including the x, but the whole region has 7 orthos overall.
is the x now 2 or 7?

Hm, i guess option 'A'  (2) contradicts itself pretty quickly,
i was just asking because i already dream of this monster.

i cant get that 43 cage out, everything leads to 'puzzle broken'.


so , someone can give a hint maybe , specially  one from row 4, 

maybe cell cell so and so belongs to cage 23, i dunno


should be fun, makes me mad
