Playtesters and difficulty ranking (killer sudoku) - Merdock - 03.08.2025 I have been having difficulty ranking the difficulty of my puzzles, so I am looking for someone to play through my latest puzzle and recommend a difficulty ranking for me. I'm leaning towards three stars. The rules are primarily killer cages and anti-knight, with a single black Kropki dot and a 3-cell modular line https://sudokupad.app/2b18xu9u22 If someone has a recommendation for a title for this puzzle, please toss it out. I have a few ideas, but nothing that's really sticking with me. Right now I have it set to "Digits in a Knightless Kingdom". RE: Playtesters and difficulty ranking (killer sudoku) - dumediat - 03.08.2025 I think 3 stars is about right for difficulty in this one. It uses quite a variety of logic (I won't spoil here), and the break-in isn't entirely straightforward. I don't think it's quite 4 stars though, since it uses relatively standard killer logic (with some nice twists). Very enjoyable, regardless! I think the title you have is fine. The unsolved grid reminds me of either crosshairs (with the green line possibly showing how to adjust aim to target the black dot) or a flower of some sort, though I don't have a great title to suggest along those lines at the moment. RE: Playtesters and difficulty ranking (killer sudoku) - Dandelo - 03.08.2025 Why don't you simply publish it? The solvers automatically will rate the difficulty. The author does it just to give a raw idea to avoid a beginner trying a 5* or vice versa. |
