After watching the CtC video on the 18-cell killer sudoku I was naturally wondering whether it was possible to reduce the amount of cells covered by killer cages to 17. It is interesting to read that they were able to prove (by exhaustion) that this is not possible. Also it seems like the author "mith" who wrote the posts in the enjoysudoku forum is Philip Newman, the author of the 18-cell killer sudoku which came to be known as the Miracle Killer Sudoku. RE: Standard killer Sudoku with the fewest clues - cdwg2000 - 17.07.2021 Phistomefel, thank you for your message, let me know that 18-cell is the ultimate setting for killer Sudoku. Both the search for the 18c and the impossibility "proof" of 17c were happening on the CtC Discord server over the last couple of weeks (on which both of you guys would be more than welcome, btw. From China that would require a VPN though). I could add that I found a unique 12c caged anti-knight and a 11c anti-knight with 2 solutions, but we believe, though not rigorously proven, that 11c unique does not exist. RE: Standard killer Sudoku with the fewest clues - cdwg2000 - 19.07.2021 @SlowLarry Thank you for your reply and let me know more. |
