Normale Version: Puzzles with publicly available solutions

I made the following observation (only a gut feeling, nothing is provable):
If there are two comparable puzzles with comparable difficulty but the first one has a publicly available solution, the second doesn't, the first one will get higher solver numbers. By publicly available I mean youtube videos or digital versions of the puzzle which allow for solution checking even after the first digit is entered.
Would it be a good idea to lable those puzzles to make solver numbers better comparable?
Why does the solver number even matter, and what do you gain by comparing them?

I'll pick quality over quantity any day. If I happen upon some really nice puzzles, I'll look for more puzzles by that author, or I check some puzzles that friends with a similar taste as me have recommended to me.
