Help constructing with CtC
#1
Apologies for what is probably a very easy question, but... I just recently joined Logic Masters and have created all of my puzzles so far on F-Puzzles. I've noticed a lot of people have done so instead on Cracking the Cryptic, which I much prefer. I've tried looking into how to do and I haven't been able to find anything. Can someone tell me how to create my puzzles on CtC's software? (I tried download the app Sven's Sudokupad but that seems to only be for creating classic sudoku not variants.) Thanks!

Dear mathpesto,

there might be a cleverer way to do this, but I usually first create a Sudoku in F-Puzzles, then copy the part of the URL after "https://f-puzzles.com/?load=" and paste it after "https://app.crackingthecryptic.com/sudoku/fpuzzles". For example, the F-Puzzles version of my Irregular Dotless Kropki has the URL

https://f-puzzles.com/?load=N4IgzglgXgpi...gqbR8PIiEA=

The CtC version then reads

https://app.crackingthecryptic.com/sudok...gqbR8PIiEA=

I hope this helps a little.

I also think the most common way is an export from f-puzzles into the CtC app.
If you use rangsk add-ons for f-puzzles there is an export function i think (not using it myself).
You can ask at CtC Discord for more informations.

Thanks so much, that was super helpful and more straightforward than I had thought it'd be! PS, I'm a big fan of your puzzles!  Smile

If you only need SudokuPad links, you can also use:

sudokupad.svencodes.com/fpuzzles/<fpuzzleID>

Where <fpuzzleID> can be either the long or short f-puzzles ID.

It appears that CtC has recently added the ability to specify a correct solution, is there a clean way to set that up when exporting from fpuzzles? fpuzzles doesn't have a way to specify solutions, does it?

The logic appears to exist in the CtC site's code, but reverse-engineering the data format probably isn't the best use of our time tonight, however much fun it sounds.

Bremster made a super helpful video explaining how to do this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPe0O7NPgCU
