"Twelve Balls": I have full (computer generated) solution tree for 9 (not 10) weighings. Unfortunately, it seems impossible to give a human-readable explanation of the solution method.

The same in #15 for me - correct answer, 0 points. The answer '11' for Twelve Balls is absurdly incorrect.

I think the same. And the phrase "with a single ball" is just his mistake. He meant "with one bowl for weighing" (="mit einer Tasse zum Wiegen").

I suppose the original puzzle solution (in contrast to the example) will be unique (not counting rotations/reflections).

Personally I am in doubt. Of course your interpretation seems the most natural. But why can't we assume that the sticks are removed only from the _plane_ of each face?
