Normale Version: difficulty rating calculation

Hi everyone, I was just wondering what is the formula/method for the difficulty rating calculation. I just had a puzzle which obtained 8x rating "hard" and 2x rating "very hard", but the overall difficulty rating became "very hard", which seems kind of weird to me. I just wanted to know, whether this is a feature or a bug.

Thanks, filuta.
Hi filuta,

There was a German thread about this recently. The consensus was that it's indeed not simple rounding, the cutoffs of the 1-5 scale are evenly spaced (i.e. 1.8, 2.6, 3.4, 4.2), otherwise there would be a lot more 2,3,4-star puzzles than the extremes. Your puzzle is exactly on the boundary of 4.2.
So working as intended. Opinions on whether it makes sense might differ.
